Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 4, 2026
This policy explains how Factosaur ("we", "us") handles information. It covers the web app at factosaur.com, including when it is installed to a home screen, and our social channels. Factosaur is an independent, free quiz game for learning geography and the times tables. By using it you agree to this policy.
The short version:
• There is no account and no sign-in. We do not know who you are.
• Your progress is stored only on your device — we never receive it.
• No analytics, no cookies, no advertising, no identifiers, no third-party scripts.
• The only record that exists is our web server's standard access log, kept for 90 days.
1. What stays on your device
Everything the game remembers lives in your browser's local storage on your device and is never sent to us:
- Which questions you have learned and when they are due again
- Your best speed-test scores
- A copy of the app's own files, so it works offline
Clearing the site's data in your browser, or removing the installed app, deletes all of it.
2. What our server sees
The site is static files served by Amazon CloudFront. Like every web server, it writes a standard access log: the requesting IP address, the file requested, the time, the browser's user-agent string and the referring page. We keep these logs in our own storage for 90 days and read them only in aggregate, to see whether anyone arrives and which quiz was opened. They are not joined to any identity, because there is none, and they are not shared with anyone.
3. What the app does not do
The app loads no analytics or advertising code, sets no cookies, creates no identifier and makes no network request at runtime other than fetching its own files. The spoken questions are pre-recorded audio files bundled with the app; nothing is synthesised or sent anywhere while you play.
4. Our YouTube, Facebook and Instagram channels
We publish short quiz videos on YouTube (@FactosaurApp), Facebook and Instagram (@factosaurapp) through an internal publishing tool that uses YouTube API Services and Meta's Graph API. The tool acts only on our own channel, Page and account: it uploads our own videos and reads our own public statistics. It does not access, collect or store any data about other users. When you watch or interact with our posts on those platforms, their operators handle your data under their own policies: the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service for YouTube, and the Meta Privacy Policy for Facebook and Instagram.
5. Data deletion
We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing for us to delete. To remove what the game stored on your device, clear the site's data in your browser or remove the installed app. Anything you did on our Facebook Page or Instagram account — a like, a comment, a follow — is held by Meta and can be removed through your own Facebook or Instagram settings. If you have any other request, email us at the address below and we will answer.
6. Children
Factosaur is made for a general audience of curious minds of any age. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.
7. Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects this policy, the change will appear here with a new "Last updated" date.
